Licensure Supervision

I have been providing licensure supervision as a board approved supervisor for both LPC associates and Certified Social Work Associates since 2017.

Broadly as a supervisor I am informed by the Integrated Developmental Model of Supervision while also making sure to center trauma informed care and anti-oppressive practice within the supervisory relationship. Understanding power, positionally, and systems of oppression is essential to providing effective therapy. Effective supervision is a parallel practice where the supervisor supervisee relationship can mimic the therapist client relationship. This offers learning opportunities and allows for key insights and areas of exploration to emerge.

My supervision approach is flexible and collaborative. I recognize that everyone has different learning styles and brings different issues to supervision.  Being a clinical supervisor is an important responsibility and not one I take lightly. I want to make sure supervisees get what they need out of supervision and are put in a position to be successful as they start their career.

Primary areas of focus include case conceptualization and differential diagnosis, risk assessment, ethics, the use of self within the therapeutic relationship, and transference/countertransference issues.

Supervision groups meet twice monthly for an hour. Each group is split into a group topic discussion and a member case presentation. I maintain a running waitlist for groups and typically will start additional groups once the waitlist gets up to four members.
